Tar-Heel Born, Tar-Heel Bred, and when I die I'll be a Tar-Heel Dead

Since I’m going to be here for a while and I’m sure that I’m going to meet a huge number of people, I thought I’d make a quick page with all the names of people I meet so that y’all can  follow who I know easy-peasy.

Here we go!!!

Part One: Fellow Exchanges OISSS

Andrea – My wonderful roomie!! She hails from all over the world being originally born in Germany but living just about everywhere see here for details. Anyway, we’re getting along pretty well at the moment despite having been in almost constant company for four days now which is definite good sign.

Fiona – The first other exchange I met. Thanks to facebook we were able to meet up before we arrived here in UNC in the scaffolding Starbucks along Quarter Mile in Edinburgh. It was great to have at least one person that I knew doing the same thing before I left. She’s in Craig North just across the road – also a massive plus. She’s very chilled and funny and about as keen on tea as me!

John – He of the manky foot and the spanky humour; we all love John. He’s currently hobbling around the campus bearing a disabled pass because of Ghanaian diseases in his toes but that’s not dampened his rather dry wit. He’s such a character, with his over worrying about being deported, about Teej the infamous and epically cool roommate, about making no friends and getting septicaemia. He doesn’t really have to worry but it’s funny to watch.

Alex – Desperate for a kettle and absolutely hilarious, Alex joined our motley crew by fluke/by being incredibly outgoing. He approached our table because he could here fellow English accents and introduced himself. He’s the only one of us not down in South Campus which is both lucky and unlucky in a way but we go to him, he comes to us so it’s pretty reciprocal and cool.

Sam & Matt – the twinlings from Lancaster Uni who have the same personality and are slightly strange but still likable. Haven’t seen much of them but I’m sure I will.

Part Two: UNC Friends

Russell – One of my oldest and loveliest friends. I’ve known him since we were eight/nine when we met one fireworks night at the Van-Es. Our families have known each other even longer since Andy (his dad) knew my mum through university friends. Martha (his mum) actually comes from NC and her family has strong relationships with UNC and Duke (where Luke, the middle brother is just starting). Russell is such a great guy, party of a Fraternity called Phi-Delta and plays rugby for the university which is pretty intense. And now we’re studying philosophy together YEY!!!

Rebecca – the wonderful and beautiful Bex that totally bowled my brother over when she came down one morning and greeted him as ‘sweetheart’ in her Carolina accent. She studies Lit/Creative writing and is such a good laugh. We lived together for a month or so in London which was so much fun and hopefully we’re going to do some travelling whilst I’m here. Bluegrass in Hickory? Waht?! And furniture painting. And she likes knobs.

Lillie – She did what I’m doing last year in Edinburgh and she was the one that took me to the first Frat party. Also a fantastic girl, total laugh and so great to hang out with. The boys loved her too so hopefully we’ll see lots more of her this year!!

Abby – Rebecca’s wee sister whose in the same sorority as her sister and introduced me to her Gaga. She’s so sweet and need her own wee space!!

Jessie and Mary-Ellis – our fellow suitemates. They’re first years but very sweet - and absolutely CRAZY. Admittedly we've sort of taken it upon ourselves to corrupt them - taking them to their first nights out at house parties and clubs, their first party-juices, first Magners....

THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS OF PRITCHARD
What can I say - these girls need their own space on this page because they're our HEROES. Without them we'd probably never have done half of the things we've done -especially not the birthday bonanzas. Slowly but surely all of them are turning 21 with us and where Lexi S. and Emma have already been abroad for a year (Manchester and Edinburgh respectively), Jess and Lexie K are off on their adventures next semester. I think us Brits will miss them as much as their house mates.

Emma feeling the Pulse with Alex
Emma - as insane and wonderful as anyone could ever be, Emma's a bit like champagne: bubbly and always putting a little bit of sparkle into your night. She also went to Edinburgh for a semester and Lillie, she and I sometimes wax lyrical about the Hive with Fiona.

Lexie K. - My beautiful and brilliant adopted mentor!! This lovely lady is so much fun, always up for a laugh and a giggle. I'm going to be so sad when she disappears off to another continent but I KNOW that she'll have the time of her life and I suppose I do have the air miles to come visit.....

Lexie K, Jess and Lexi S looking oh so lovely before a night
 out!!!
Lexi S. - So talented it's untrue. As a part of the Kamikaze's the first thing I remember about this awesome girl was her dancing like she came from Step Up in the middle of the living room (admittedly turned into a dance floor) at Emma's birthday. So much fun and believe she's putting up with John for Thanksgiving. That should be hilarious.

Jess - sweet, smiley and the Queen of the Vampire Diaries, she seems quite determined to get me an Fiona hooked on the addictive, vampiric tv-cults (I am in fact now half way through series 2 ahhhh). She was the star of the year when she drove Alex, Andrea and I to DC over Fall Break and for introducing us to the infamous Taco Bell too and her dad is a lad. Seriously, whose going to ask me about Team Stefan/Damon next semester?!

Turkey Baster Shots with Wevine!!
Wevine - TAP MY WEAVE. I love this girl. We all love this girl. Sometimes sleepy, sometimes Pride, sometimes hilarious, Wevine is just one of those people that everyone gets along with. Matching John Beyonce for Beyonce, Mean Girl for Mean Girl, she may let him tap her weave but she's one awesome lady with one unforgettable personality.

What about BOYS???
Girls - if you're looking for love in Chapel Hill, you're really in the wrong place. With a ratio that seriously favours girls on a night out (40% guys to 60% girls) - you're probably not going to find Mr. Right. But there are some wonderful characters out there for you all to meet. I've met some great chaps, really funny and amusing and I'd consider most of these guys friends even if they're not that close. So for future reference - these are the nice guys, not often single, sometimes not interested in girls, a little bit quirky but worth mentioning so that those who despair realise there are SOME half-decent chaps on the Hill.

Mark - John's mentor who writes for the DTH, had a writing job in Alaska, has family from everywhere in the world and sings in an a-capella group. He's also the renowned creator of Project Dino - a spin-wheel based drinking game that is genuinely one of the most hilarious experiences available in this wee town.

Ryan and Eric - two freshman that you may recall me mentioning after my 21st. After defeating Lillie and I (by the skin of their teeth) at beer-pong, we've seen each other around and about town. They tried at one point to persuade Andrea and I that it would be really good fun (for them) to see us making out with each other.... really boys?

Walt - a right character, probably a lad in American clothing who actually went to UNC's basketball match on Remembrance Day. He helped to organise Alex's spooktacular Halloween festivities and let me paint his face at a panda party. I also know that he has a wee thing for somebody else on this page.

Jay - Although not always in class, Jay is such a personality. He's funny and rather charming in a ruffled kind of way. Almost as soon as I mentioned being in a sorority he volunteered to come as my date to a social and he's rather in love with cadburys. Also a professionally trained tea-maker. You can see why we'd get along.

Jonathon - The eccentric and quite clearly brilliant namesake of the 'Jonathon Moment' - when inspiration/understanding strikes in a 'that's so cool' form. He holds such a presence in my class that I couldn't help but want to add him in here.

ADPI. ADPI. ADPI.
Well I'm not going to lie... this part of the list would take far far too long to put together. With 178 or so girls in the house, there are a lot of people to mention!!! Of course, with that many people I still don't know everyone (I don't think I even know the entirety of my pledge class which is horrendous of meeee) but there are some people that I love and adore and the people I so often have lunch with are always going to be worth mentioning.

There's my BIG Laura - kind of like a sorority mentor who I'm currently in the process of setting up with Alex  as a date to Informal. There's Sabrina, my amaaazing wee friend from Tampa who joins me on Tuesday and Thursday for lunch and loves the living room sofas. There's Alex-AR who came through Rush with me. There's my very-often bus-buddy Alexa S. There's Elizabeth who reminds me so so much of Lydia it's unnerving sometimes. And SO MANY MORE people I'm going to have to take the time to write about. But for now I shall leave it there with a few photos of these lovely girls.
